About Us

Jamaica Creates started as a degree project for Ashly Cork’s MA in Culture Industry programme at Goldsmiths, University of London. She wanted to do a project that honed her skills in writing while bringing together her passions for the Creative Industries and her country Jamaica.

After the positive feedback that was garnered following the publication of the first Jamaica Creates, Ashly decided to take it further and create an Instagram blog and this web page to share more frequent articles similar to those shared within the magazine.

Jamaica Creates looks to celebrate the creativity of Jamaicans, particularly young Jamaicans, in a structured and informative way. One may always see and enjoy things, but it is important for our readers to be able to truly learn and have productive knowledge taken away when they read any of our articles.
